Free Webcast on Stuttering Hosted by Hollins Communications Research Institute on January 18, 2010

Roanoke, VA (PRWEB) January 13, 2010 -- The first in a series of educational webcasts focused on stuttering is scheduled for Monday, January 18, 2010 at 7 p.m. EST. The free on-line event is open to the public and hosted by non-profit Hollins Communications Research Institute (HCRI – stuttering.org (http://www.stuttering.org)), a leader in stuttering research and treatment innovation.

During the 45-minute webcast, HCRI Founder and President Ronald L. Webster, Ph.D. and expert stuttering clinicians LuAnn Yates and Candy Smith will provide a new look into the problem of stuttering and discuss how HCRI successfully treats the condition. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions before and during the webcast to be addressed during the live discussion. Those interested in participating, may register online by January 17, 2010 at stuttering.org/register (http://www.stuttering.org/register).

“Stuttering affects three million people in the U.S. and is a deeply misunderstood condition. As a result, it is often mistreated, leaving people who stutter with greater frustration, wasted therapy expense and a speech condition that impedes their ability to reach life’s full potential,” Webster said.

Through HCRI’s series of webcasts, Webster and his team hope to shed new light on the central defining elements of stuttering and highlight how the institute’s treatment addresses the root of the problem for more successful outcomes. HCRI’s scientific work is based on research with 5,700 stuttering cases that encompass an extensive range of stuttering severity and stuttering types among people ages 10 to 73.
